According to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerly, the wait for next-gen consoles is becoming longer and longer, and if it continues, it’s likely that tablets will become gamers’ first choice for gaming.
Yerly was talking to VG247, and said that new consoles were already overdue. According to Gamespot.com, he said, 'The current generations are drying out, and the longer we wait for the next generation of consoles, the higher the likelihood that they could fall behind tablets in terms of being the first thing people reach for when the time comes to play games.'
He added that, even though gamers were awaiting the announcement of Microsoft’s new Xbox, the time was ripe for new platforms to be revealed right now. Many believe that new consoles from the likes of Microsoft and Sony would only be available for the holidays in 2013, although the Wii U will be released this year.
